At Kigezi Community School, a program under the Roots of Impact Development Initiative (RIDI), we believe that education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty.
Every day, hundreds of children walk long distances with hope in their hearts. They sit attentively in classrooms, eager to learn, eager to dream, eager to become teachers, doctors, leaders, and change-makers.
But there is a painful reality we face.
Our children are studying with outdated textbooks that no longer match the current national curriculum. Some books are torn. Some are missing pages. In many classes, five to seven children share one old textbook. The content does not reflect the updated syllabus, making it difficult for our learners to compete equally with others.
